Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Pachamama Organic Farm located?

We are located at 10771 North 49th. Street, just South of Saint Vrain Rd. We are 10 miles North of Boulder, 6 miles West of Longmont and 4 miles South of Lyons

How much produce do I get in my CSA share?

Your share of the harvest will vary throughout the season. Quantities start out relatively small the first few weeks and become larger as the season progresses and more crops reach maturity. A regular size share is designed to meet the weekly produce needs for 1-3 people or a small family. A large size share is approximately 50% larger or enough to meet the weekly produce needs of 3-4 people or a larger family.

Do I get to pick what goes in my share box?

Your share box selection is chosen and pre-packed by us at the farm and it contains a variety of fresh produce items harvested that day.

Learning to eat and enjoy new vegetables is one of the benefits of joining a CSA program. Our members often comment that they look forward to each pick-up day with excitement in anticipation of opening their share box and seeing the beautiful fresh produce inside.

Sure, it’s a challenge to prepare new vegetables and to find interesting recipes for zucchini week after week but the benefits are well worth the added time and effort. Our weekly newsletter contains a recipe each week and we sell a wonderful cookbook written specifically for CSA members

What are the CSA pick-up times and locations?

Tuesdays 4:00 - 7:00pm at Pachamama Organic Farm.
Wednesdays 4:00 - 8:00pm at the Boulder Farmers Market (13th and Canyon)

Members choose one time and location for the entire season. The first pick-up for 2008 is Tuesday, June 3rd at the farm and Wednesday, June 4th at the Boulder Farmers Market.

What if I won’t be able to pick-up my share due to work, vacations, or an unexpected change of plans?

You may send a friend to pick-up your share during your designated pick-up time. Another suggestion is that you form a “co-op” to share in pick-up responsibilities. Each member of the “co-op”purchases their own share and the “co-op” members coordinate share pick-up and distribution amongst themselves. If you miss your farm pick-up on Tuesday, you can pick up your share at the Boulder Farmers' Market for an additional $3 charge on Wednesday.

As a CSA member can I volunteer to work on the farm?

Yes, give us a call and we’ll schedule a good time for you to join us on a harvest day

When can I bring my children to the farm?

CSA members and their children are welcome to walk the fields and visit the farm animals during CSA pick-up times at the farm which is Tuesday from 4:00 -7:00 PM. Also, our Sweet Corn Festival and Pumpkin Festival are fun-filled times to learn about organic farming and to harvest and eat organic produce right from the fields!

Can I split a share with someone else?

We discourage CSA members from splitting shares between two households. Ask yourself these questions: How will we split a head of lettuce, a cantaloupe, a bag of salad greens, a bunch of basil, or three beets? If you alternate weeks then how will you feel if you miss a large distribution of potatoes or the week when watermelons are in abundant supply?

Consider making a commitment to treating yourself and your family to a 18 week diet centered around fresh, organically grown produce that nourishes the body and spirit. By shifting $25.00 of your current food purchases per week from the corporate food system to our local, family operated, organic farm you will be creating powerful change in our community and our world. CSA is about more than just vegetables.

How much does a CSA membership cost for one season?

Cost is $450.00 for a regular size share, $650.00 for a large size share. There is an additional one time $50.00 delivery charge for pick-up at the Boulder Farmers' Market.

How do I sign up?

Print the MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION PAGE and mail a deposit check of $150.00 or full payment to: Pachamama Organic Farm 10771 N. 49th St. Longmont, CO 80503

Do you give discounts for members who work on the farm?

We do not offer a working share discount.

Do you accept credit or debit cards, or offer a payment plan?

Not at this time.

Can I get a refund if if I don’t like this program after a few weeks?

Farming is a risky business and there are no guarantees regarding the quantity and quality of produce harvested each season. As small scale organic farmers we are not covered by government support programs that provide payments to large scale farmers in the event of crop loss. Our CSA members make a pledge of financial support to the farm for one growing season which allows us to continue farming even when we suffer crop loss due to hail, drought, frost, insects and other natural events. Therefore, refunds are not given for any reason.

We are available to answer all of your questions by phone or in person at the farm to ensure that you are comfortable with your decision to become a CSA member.

Give us a call, we would love to speak with you about our Community Supported Agriculture program!
