What our Members Say
Our CSA 2009 share with Pachamama Organic Farm was the best! The
veggies were incredibly tasty, clearly grown with care and love.
Each week, I would be delighted by what was in our share box: the
sweetest, best Edamame, tasty beets and greens, crisp kale, crunchy
carrots that usually wouldn’t make it home from the pickup! I’m not
a huge Brussel Sprouts fan and Lauren and Ewell succeeded in converting
me! I’m sending in my deposit for next year’s share and can’t wait!
Thanks, Pachamama!

Signing up for a food share with Pachamama Organic Farm for the
2009 summer season was my first experience with a CSA. It proved
to be a wonderful experience which I hope to continue next year.
Most of all, it was a great learning experience. Along with traditional
vegetables, I was introduced to some that I had never prepared or
even eaten before. Each week’s share of veggies was accompanied by
a weekly newsletter containing very helpful recipes along with other
tips for fixing them. Picking up my share each week at the Boulder
Farmer’s Market was a pleasurable experience as well, as I was always
warmly greeted by my first name and made to feel like one of the
team at Pachamama.

I’ve been able to get my family to eat more and varied greens & vitamin
rich veg
than
ever before - it simply tastes great! For me, that’s a simple decision
about what I want in my kids’ bodies and my own. I want my kids to
know the how and what and where of the food they eat.
And, I also found out -- Farmer Lauren and Farmer Ewell - they are
real people! And did I mention that I eagerly anticipated every
week’s box of produce - it was like opening a present! Finding out
what was growing that week and stretching my culinary skills to learn
to cook veg I had never even had to courage to buy before.

How can we thank you enough for such a beautiful experience with
your food and your farm this summer? We didn't feel right about wrapping
up the growing season without taking a minute to share with you how
much be enjoyed being part of your family farm. First, the veggies
were gorgeous, abundant, nutritious, and tasty. We loved the challenge
of preparing vegetables we might not otherwise have sought out in
a grocery store; it broadened our culinary horizons and made our
meals so much more colorful than they would have been otherwise.
True, we sometimes had to work hard to use or freeze all of the produce
each week, but the experience of eating seasonally was truly satisfying.
I believe our family is so much healthier for it. Most importantly
for us though, was the opportunity to be intimately connected with
the source of our food. My boys looked forward to Tuesdays all week
long, and they seemed to come alive as they fed the horses, played
on the tractors, and explored the fields. Your hospitality in sharing
your farm with us was so special; I can't stress enough how important
it has been to watch our children grow to appreciate the importance
of knowing where their food comes from. Ewell is quite the hero at
our house! Each night as we sat down to dinner, our typically picky
4 year old would examine his vegetables and ask, "Did Ewell
grow this for me?". When we answered affirmatively, he would
gobble up every bite! Knowing that the food was lovingly harvested
for him by a friend made his mealtimes so much richer, both literally
and figuratively! Having participated in other CSAs in year past,
we can unequivocally say that our experience at Pachamama has been
the best by far. We truly felt like we were a part of supporting
local farmers who in turn supported our family in ways that reach
far beyond simply putting veggies on our plates. We are already looking
forward to next spring!
